Maritza Davila was born and raised in Connecticut. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Teikyo Post University. Davila worked for insurance companies such as Aetna and Travelers. In 2014, Davila defeated incumbent state representative Edwin Vargas in the Democratic primary for Connecticut's 4th House District. She went on to win the general election.
