Biography

Jason Smith, born on June 16, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri, is a seventh-generation Missourian and the fourth-generation owner of his family's farm in Salem. He has been serving as the U.S. Representative for Missouri's 8th congressional district since 2013. In January 2023, Smith was appointed Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, becoming the youngest person to hold this position since before the Civil War and the first Missourian to lead the committee since 1859. Throughout his tenure, Smith has been a staunch advocate for rural values, fiscal conservatism, and policies that support working families, farmers, and small businesses.
