Doreen Wonda Johnson's political career began when she successfully ran for election to the New York State Assembly in 2018, becoming the first woman of color to represent the 121st District. Prior to her election, Johnson worked as a guidance counselor in the Brentwood Union Free School District for over 15 years. She earned a Master's degree in Education from Dowling College and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Stony Brook University. Johnson sits on the Assembly Committees on Education, Governmental Employees, and Veterans' Affairs. She has focused her legislative agenda on education and workforce development, healthcare access, gun violence prevention, and services for veterans.read less
