Dina Titus taught political science for 30 years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She served in the Nevada Senate from 1988 to 2008, and has chaired the Democratic Caucus, chaired the Commerce and Labor Committee, and authored legislation on education reform, healthcare, and public safety. Titus was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, defeating Republican incumbent Jon Porter in Nevada’s Third Congressional District. She lost her re-election bid in 2010 but defeated her 2010 opponent in a 2012 rematch and has served in Congress since 2013.read less
