ABOUT

Brian J. Mast was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1999, and was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment, serving on multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Mast stepped on an improvised explosive device in Kandahar in September 2010. He lost both his legs and a finger as a result of that IED blast. After recovering from injuries sustained in Afghanistan, Mast continued to serve in the Army while also earning a degree in economics from Harvard Extension School. In 2014 he received an honorable discharge from the Army. Mast and his wife Brianna have three young children.read less
