Biography

Tim Griffin is a Republican politician representing Virginia's 53rd House of Delegates district, which includes parts of Amherst, Bedford, and Nelson counties. Elected in the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election, he took office on January 10, 2024, and serves as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. An election attorney and former prosecutor, Griffin lives in Forest, Virginia, with his two daughters; he grew up in central Virginia and has been involved in local Republican politics, including as Chairman of the Bedford County Republican Committee.

Education and Political Experience

Griffin graduated from Lynchburg Christian Academy and Liberty University. He attended Appalachian School of Law, where he served under Virginia Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Kinser and U.S. District Court Judge James Turk, and participated on Law Review and Moot Court teams.

As a former Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney, he prosecuted cases involving drug dealers, drunk drivers, thieves, sexual offenders, and murderers, including the notable conviction of Lloyd Welch for the murder of Katherine and Sheila Lyon. In recent years, he has worked as a constitutional and election law attorney, advocating for fair elections in multiple cities and challenging COVID-19 lockdown orders in Pennsylvania. He has also read and written legislation on election integrity and led efforts that helped Bedford County achieve strong Republican turnout in the 2021 gubernatorial election.
