Biography
Tameika Isaac Devine is a Democratic State Senator representing District 19 in the South Carolina Senate. Born on December 5, 1972, in Charlotte, N.C., she is a Columbia native, attorney, wife, mother, and founding partner of the law firm Jabber & Isaac, PA, specializing in real estate, probate, and business transactions. She also founded The Possibilities Institute, a consulting firm focused on women leaders and mothers. Notable achievements include being the first African-American woman elected to Columbia City Council in 2002 and the first African-American elected at-large; as an Assistant Attorney General, she advocated for domestic violence victims and shaped protective legislation; she co-chaired the Work Initiative Program for workforce development, restructured city courts, helped establish criminal domestic and homeless courts, and led efforts against youth violence and gangs. Her leadership earned national recognition, including service on the National League of Cities Executive Committee, platinum certification in NLC's leadership program, and roles in Democratic Municipal Officials.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Spring Valley High School; earned a Business Management degree from Hampton University; received a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Completed Leadership Columbia and Liberty Fellowship .
