Steven A. Horsford was born in 1973 in Carson City, Nevada. He earned a B.S. degree in International Business from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1996 and an MBA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1999. Horsford served as CEO of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas. He also started his own small business, running an independent insurance agency. From 2005 to 2013, he served in the Nevada Senate.
