Sheila A. Lyman was born and raised in East Haven, Connecticut. She graduated from East Haven High School in 1963. In 1967, Sheila earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Albertus Magnus College. After college, Sheila joined the Vista Program and moved to North Carolina. She taught disadvantaged children for two years before returning home. Back in Connecticut, Sheila worked various jobs until finding her calling - education. She earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Sheila then began a long career as a special education teacher in the East Haven School District. She retired from teaching in 2009.read less
