Mariannette Miller-Meeks was born in Keokuk, Iowa. She served for 24 years in the U.S. Army, retiring with rank of lieutenant colonel. She entered public service in 2008 as Director of the Iowa Department of Public Health. She then served in the Iowa Senate from 2019-2021. Miller-Meeks is a medical doctor and has a master's degree in nursing. She and her husband Curt (who is her high school sweetheart) have raised six children together after experiencing the death of their prematurely born triplets in 1997.read less
