Jerry R. Turner was born in Pineville, Kentucky. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1970. He then served in the United States Army, retiring after 20 years at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the Army, Turner worked in the private sector before deciding to run for Congress. He won election in 1994. Turner is married with 2 children.read less
