Jennifer A. Stewart was born in Tacoma, Washington. She earned her B.A. degree in Political Science and History in 1995 from Pacific Lutheran University. She later earned her Master of Public Administration degree in 2005 from Troy University. Stewart has over 20 years of experience working in state government. She worked her way up through various agencies before being appointed Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Corrections by Governor Kay Ivey in 2019.read less
