Janice D. Schakowsky was born in 1944 in Chicago, IL. She received a B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1965. Prior to her election to Congress, she served in the Illinois General Assembly. In 1998, Schakowsky was elected to represent Illinois’ 9th Congressional District. She serves on the Energy & Commerce Committee.
