Derrick T. Simmons is from Greenville, Mississippi. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Jackson State University in 1995, and his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 1999. Simmons served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2012 to 2016 where he focused on education, healthcare and economic development. He was elected to the Mississippi State Senate in 2016 where he currently serves on several committees including Appropriations, Education, Judiciary Division A, Public Health and Welfare, and Universities and Colleges.read less
