Yvonne Davis was born in Jacksonville, Florida. She received a B.A. degree in psychology from Edward Waters College in 1986. Davis served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000, and was its first African American woman Speaker Pro Tempore from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, Davis ran unsuccessfully as the Democratic nominee for Florida's 3rd congressional district. She works as a political consultant and lives in Jacksonville.read less
