Vaneta G. Becker was born in Chadron, Nebraska. She received her B.A. from Chadron State College in 1962. Becker was a teacher from 1962 to 1968. She served as Dawes County treasurer from 1975 to 1987. In 1994, Becker was elected to represent Nebraska's 47th District. She served on numerous committees including Education, Natural Resources, and Executive Board. In 2006, Becker ran for Nebraska governor but lost in the primary. She continued serving District 47 until retiring in 2007 after 13 years in the state legislature.read less
