Thomas M. Jones was born and raised in Anytown, USA. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from State University in 1990. After college, Jones worked in the financial sector before running for political office. He first won election to the city council in 1998. After serving two terms on the council, Jones successfully ran for mayor of Anytown in 2006. As mayor, Jones focused on education and infrastructure initiatives. He won re-election in 2010.
