Sharon Shewmake is a Democratic member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing District 42. Shewmake graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations from the University of British Columbia in 1998. Shewmake went on to earn a master's degree in economics from American University in 2000, and a PhD in economics from the University of California, Davis in 2009. Her past professional experience includes working as an assistant teaching professor from 2014-2018. Shewmake first ran for office in 2018, successfully running to represent District 42 in the state House. She assumed office on January 14, 2019.read less
