Sarah S. Vance is a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. She joined the Court in 1994 after being nominated by President William J. Clinton. Vance graduated from Newcomb College with her bachelor's degree in 1967 and earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1970. After law school, she clerked for Judge Albert Tate on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1970 to 1971. Vance then entered private practice at the New Orleans law firm of Phelps, Dunbar, Marks, Claverie & Sims. She was made partner at the firm in 1977.read less
