Samuel Lee Watford is from Mebane, North Carolina. He earned his undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University in 1975. After college, Watford worked as a teacher and basketball coach at Eastern Alamance High School for over 30 years. He also served on the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education from 2000 to 2008. In 2018, Watford ran to represent North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House. He lost in the Democratic primary.read less
