Rupert W. Phillips was born in Freeport, Long Island, New York. He graduated from Freeport High School before receiving a B.A. in English from the College at Oneonta. After college, Phillips worked at BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) where he taught English to high school students. He later worked for Suffolk County Community College as an Academic Advisor. Phillips serves on the Board of Trustees of the Freeport Memorial Library and volunteers as a literacy tutor. He has also served on the Nassau County Judicial Screening Committee.read less
