ABOUT
Roy Cooper served in the North Carolina Senate from 1991 to 2001. He was elected North Carolina Attorney General in November 2000. As Attorney General, Roy focused on protecting families and communities. Roy fought to strengthen penalties for sexual predators and safeguard neighborhoods from methamphetamine drug dealers and violent gangs. His efforts led to tougher DWI laws, helped thousands of consumers fight back against identity theft and video poker, and ensured families received child support payments. Roy’s commitment to service began at an early age. His father, Roy Sr. was a public school teacher and his mother Jean was a homemaker. Born and raised in Nashville, North Carolina, Roy learned the values of faith, family and community.read less
