Robert Otho Hanig was born in Grinnel, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from University of Northern Iowa in 1981 and then taught school for several years. In 2000, Hanig decided to run for political office. He was elected to Iowa State Senate and served four terms before retiring in 2008. Since leaving political office, Hanig has worked as a real estate developer.read less
