Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez was a Democratic member of the Rhode Island State Senate, representing District 8. She assumed office on January 1, 2013. Cruz-Perez earned her BA in communications from Marian Court College in 1977 and went on to work for the Department of Labor and Training. She was director of the Providence-Cranston Workforce Solutions office prior to joining the Senate. Cruz-Perez served in the Rhode Island House from 2006 to 2012.read less
