Michael Lynn Caputo is from Buffalo, New York. He earned a B.A. in history from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Caputo worked on campaigns for politicians, including Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. In 1994, Caputo moved to Russia and served as an adviser to Boris Yeltsin and the Federation of Russian Public Relations. He also worked in media and public relations in Eastern Europe.
