Meloyde Blancett is a former Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate, representing District 22. She earned her BA in Psychology from New Mexico Highlands University in 1972. Blancett was first elected to the New Mexico Senate in 1996. She served as Chair of the Senate Public Affairs Committee from 2005 to 2008. She also served on several other committees, including Corporations and Transportation; Conservation; Investments and Pensions; and Indian and Cultural Affairs. Blancett did not seek re-election in 2008. Prior to serving in the legislature, she had worked as a Child Support Enforcement Officer.read less
