Mary Pamela Jochum was born on May 24, 1956. She graduated Washington High School, Cedar Rapids and earned her B.A. in 1980 from University of Iowa. Jochum was first elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1988 where she served for 14 years until winning election to the Iowa Senate in 2002, representing District 50. She served as Iowa Senate President from January 2013-January 2015. Other legislative assignments Jochum has held include Senate Majority Whip and Chair of the Appropriations & Human Resources Budget Subcommittees.read less
