Lynda J. Schlegel Culver is running as an Independent candidate for Governor of Iowa. Culver is a former business executive. She was Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Story County for five years. Culver said she grew up on a farm and views that as an important part of who she is. Culver said she witnessed discrimination against women and lower-income people firsthand growing up and that inspired her advocacy work. If elected, Culver said she would use her executive experience to run state agencies more efficiently.read less
