Lona Kim Thatcher was born on April 30, 1964 and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She is an alderwoman for the 30th ward in Chicago, and was first elected in 2013. Thatcher graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Art and received her master’s degree at Governors State University. Prior to being elected alderwoman, she worked as a graphic designer and small business owner. Thatcher serves on five Chicago City Council committees: Aviation; Economic; Capital and Technology Development; License and Consumer Protection; Special Events; Cultural Affairs and Recreation. She lives in the West Ridge neighborhood with her husband where they raised their two now adult children.read less
