Lola Smallwood Cuevas became the Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge in 2012. Prior to her judgeship, she served as a partner in a law firm for 15 years. Before becoming a lawyer, Cuevas taught elementary school, practiced as a psychologist, served in the U.S. Army Reserve and worked in business. She has served on the Foundation Board of California State University, the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the Mexican American Bar Association. Cuevas earned her B.A. in psychology from U.C. Santa Barbara and her J.D. from Loyola Law School. She also holds teaching and Pupil Personnel Service credentials.read less
