Lisa M. Meier is a Libertarian candidate running for U.S. Senate to represent Washington. Meier was a food safety inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture. She also worked overseas in Peru, Guatemala and Australia. Meier is an advocate of immigration reform, a non-interventionist foreign policy and increased transparency in government spending. She supports congressional term limits and the FairTax national sales tax proposal. Meier opposes the Affordable Care Act and believes health insurance should operate in a free market. She wants the U.S. to withdraw from the United Nations. Meier also is opposed to gun control laws.read less
