Linda Marie Lopez was born in Las Cruces and graduated with honors from Mayfield High School in 1979. She received a Bachelor of Arts in political science and communications from New Mexico State University in 1984 and earned a Juris Doctor from UNM School of Law in 1993. Lopez worked as a public information officer for the New Mexico Department of Health and as an administrator for the New Mexico State Fair Commission before being elected to the New Mexico Senate in 1997. She has served District 11 in the New Mexico Senate since 1997.read less
