Laurie Schlegel is running as a Republican candidate for the Iowa State House, District 73. Schlegel was an educator for 36 years before retiring. She served on the Ottumwa School Board from 2013 to 2021. Schlegel also served as a board member for Indian Hills Community College and as president of the Ottumwa Education Association. Schlegel believes her experience in education has prepared her well to serve in the Iowa legislature. If elected, she plans to focus on supporting funding for education, infrastructure, and healthcare access.read less
