Laura Huntingdon Budd is running for U.S. House to represent North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. She won the Republican primary on March 15, 2022. Budd previously served six terms in the North Carolina Senate before declining to run for reelection in 2016. She's a widowed homeschooling mother of seven children, and if elected, would be the only current member of the U.S. House of Representatives to have homeschooled her children.read less
