Kayse M. Jama immigrated to the United States from Somalia in 1999. He worked assisting refugees and immigrants as they adjusted to living in Oregon. In 2008, Jama founded the Center for Intercultural Organizing (CIO) to empower communities of color and immigrants to promote human rights and dignity. The CIO works on issues such as immigrant rights, civic engagement, health equity, and environmental justice.read less
