She attended Fairview High School, where she was valedictorian. Katie went on to graduate summa cum laude from Yale University with a degree in political science. After college, Katie worked on several political campaigns before deciding to run for office herself. She started out serving on her local school board. After two terms, Katie decided to run for a seat in the state legislature. She was elected in 2014 and quickly developed a reputation as a moderate willing to reach across the aisle.
