Karen E. Spilka is the State Senator for the Second Middlesex and Norfolk district in Massachusetts. She was first elected to the chamber in 2005. Sen. Spilka earned her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton and her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to her election, Sen. Spilka served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. She has also worked as an adjunct professor and mediation instructor. Her professional experience includes working as Chief Legal Counsel for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Sen. Spilka serves on several committees, including the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. She has sponsored legislation relating to economic development, healthcare, and public education.read less
