John Richard Bell was born on November 13, 1941. He received his BA from Dartmouth in 1963 and his JD from Harvard in 1966. Bell also attended LSE. Bell served as Virginia's attorney general from 1977 to 1985. He then went into private law practice and taught at the University of Virginia School of Law before leaving to run for Governor of Virginia in 2001. He lost the Democratic primary.read less
