John L. Scott grew up in Washington. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in social sciences, Scott served in the U.S. Navy. Later, he worked in real estate sales and management. In 1994, Scott was elected to the Washington State House of Representatives. He served until 2001. While in office, Scott worked on banking, economic development, government efficiency, and tax issues. Scott then founded a public affairs and business consulting firm. He currently lives in Washington with his wife. They have three grown children.read less
