Jesse Kiehl was born in Sitka to a family long active in Alaska's public life. He studied physics at Harvard and returned home to teach high school and tutor rural students online. Jesse served in the Alaska Legislature from 2013-2017, and chaired the Senate Minority Caucus. He believes government works best when it focuses on creating opportunity for regular people, not lobbyists. In the Legislature, Jesse passed policy solutions into law, from investment in renewable energy development to protecting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. His independent, get-it-done leadership has earned him respect across party lines – and he’s never afraid to stand up for what’s right.read less
