Jay W. Steagall is a Democratic state representative from Minnesota's 43A district, serving since 2017. Steagall grew up in rural Minnesota and attended Concordia College in Morehead, where he majored in political science. After college, Steagall worked as an infantry officer in the Minnesota Army National Guard. During his 20-year military career, he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel and served one tour of duty in Iraq. After retiring from the military, Steagall founded a small business, worked as a city councilman, and was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives.read less
