James Robert Akers is a Bus Driver from Wisconsin. Akers is the father of two daughters. His first wife Becky died of cancer in 2007. His daughters both moved out of the house, so he remarried in 2012 to Lily, who also had two daughters from a previous marriage. His blended family now has four daughters ranging in age from 10 to 22. Akers worked at Metro Transit driving city buses in Milwaukee for over 20 years before retiring in 2016 to run for U.S. Senate. His campaign focused on bringing an outsider's perspective to Washington. Though unsuccessful in his Senate bid, Akers gained respect for his grassroots campaign.read less
