James R. Mackay is the State Senator representing District 21, which covers parts of Washoe and Storey Counties. He was first elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2018. Senator Mackay serves on multiple committees including Education, Finance, Natural Resources, and Legislative Operations and Elections. Prior to serving in the Legislature, Senator Mackay was an attorney in Reno. He earned his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from Santa Clara University. Senator Mackay and his wife Megan have two young children.
