James Andrew Burgin is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 37. Burgin earned his BA in political science and criminal justice from Appalachian State University in 2012. After graduation, he became a police officer in Harnett County. In 2016, Burgin decided to run for state representative. He went on to defeat two-term Democratic incumbent Garland Pierce in the general election that November. Burgin serves on several committees, including Agriculture, Appropriations, Homeland Security, Military and Veterans Affairs, Public Safety and Transportation. Some of his legislative priorities have included providing better resources for law enforcement officers and first responders.read less
