Garland E. Pierce is serving his eighth term in the Mississippi House of Representatives. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus. Rep. Pierce has served on various committees including Apportionment and Elections, Conservation and Water Resources, County Affairs, Education, and Transportation. Prior to serving in the state legislature, Rep. Pierce served two terms on the Walthall County Board of Supervisors. He has also served as a board member for the Mississippi Association of Supervisors and the National Association of Counties Human Services Steering Committee. Rep. Pierce is an ordained Baptist minister. He lives in Tylertown, MS with his wife of over 35 years. They have two children. Rep. Pierce earned his Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Tougaloo College.read less
