David N. Cicilline was born July 15, 1961 in Providence, RI. He earned a B.A. degree (1983) from Brown University and a J.D. degree (1986) from Georgetown University. He worked as a Public Defender in Washington, D.C. and later founded his own law firm before being elected to the Rhode Island Senate, where he served from 1995 to 2003. Cicilline went on to serve as Mayor of Providence, Rhode Island from 2003 to 2011.read less
