David J. Place is running for election to the Maine State Senate to represent District 1. Place was born and raised in Washington County, Maine. Place graduated from the University of Maine and started his own software company, Television Internet Solutions, in 1997. He lives in Waldo County where he has served on various town committees and as a selectman. Place is running because he believes economic prosperity for regular Mainers has declined over the past few decades.
