David A. Smith was born in Seattle, Washington. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Washington in 1992. In 1998, Smith began his political career by joining the campaign for state senator Jane Wells. After Wells was elected, Smith served as her legislative assistant for 4 years. In 2005, Smith ran for Seattle City Council. He lost narrowly but built name recognition in the city. He continued working on local campaigns and nonprofits before launching his campaign for US Congress in 2021.read less
