D. Wade Williams was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. He is a graduate of East Rowan High School. Williams attended Catawba College in Salisbury, graduating with honors with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting. After college, Williams joined the United States Marine Corps serving tours in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict as a CH-46 helicopter crew chief. After being honorably discharged, Williams returned home to begin a business career joining Roadway Package System which later merged with Yellow Freight Systems (YRC Worldwide).read less
