Cherlynn Stevenson was born in Detroit, MI. She received her B.S. degree in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1987. After graduation, Ms. Stevenson worked in the financial industry before starting her own consulting business in 2000. In 2010, Ms. Stevenson ran for Mayor of Detroit. Although unsuccessful in her bid, she continued being active in local politics. She serves on the boards of several Detroit nonprofits focused on education and job training. In 2018, Ms. Stevenson decided to run for U.S. Congress. Her platform focuses on rebuilding Detroit's economy, improving schools, and reducing crime. She believes her business background makes her well-qualified to serve in Congress.read less
